Prices Skyrocket for New Kennedy Gold Coin at ANA World’s Fair of Money. VIDEO: 12:38.

David Lisot, Producer, CoinWeek.com….
The new Kennedy 50th anniversary gold coin was released at the American Numismatic Association (ANA) World’s Fair of Money in Rosemont, Illinois. The popularity of the coin brought scores of buyers to the convention who waited for hours to buy the new commemorative. Only one coin was allowed to be sold to 500 people each day for the issue price of $1245. Some coin dealers offered to buy the coins for as high as $5000 each from lucky purchasers.

Many people were recruited from Craigslist and paid to stand in line and buy the coins. In this video you will travel from the line outside the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center to the US Mint Booth and to the PCGS grading service that encapsulated the coins.

You will hear from David Hendrickson of SilverTowne, the dealer who paid a whopping $5000 each for the first four coins sold. And you will hear from the lucky buyer who stayed in line all night long to be the first in line.
