Coin Shop Triple Murder Suspects Arrested

By CoinWeek News Staff ….
A man and a woman suspected in the December 17 murder of a Jackson, Mississippi coin shop owner and his two employees have been arrested.

On Saturday, someone entered Bill’s Coin Stamp and Jewelry and shot to death store owner Cleveland “Bill” Mosley (81), Robert Ivy (60) and Ted McLemore (77). Jewelry, coins and five high-value watches were taken from the premises, as was some surveillance equipment. Police became aware of the crimes around 8:50 pm the same day.

Jamison Lynn Townsend and Joshua Garcia, both in their 30s, were apprehended yesterday in Junction City, Kansas. Surveillance footage had helped identify the duo and their car, a red 2013 Dodge Charger SRT. Townsend and Garcia had been located earlier on Monday, December 19 during an attempted traffic stop by Highway Patrol in Coffee County, Tennessee southeast of Nashville. The suspects refused to stop and escaped by driving on Highway 41.

A similar scenario played out in Kansas. Geary County (KS) Sheriff Tony Wolf stated that a red Dodge Charger with no registration was spotted driving on I-70. Police tried to pull the car over but the suspects drove away, resulting in a chase. The Charger exited onto a dead-end and wrecked. Townsend was arrested at the scene but Garcia ran away. A search of the area was conducted and Garcia was ultimately found hiding in a different parked car.

The FBI was called in to assist in the manhunt, and is currently interviewing the suspects at the Geary County Detention Center. Each is being charged with three counts of Capital Murder and one count of Armed Robbery of a Business. It is not certain as of yet whether the pair will be extradited to Mississippi from Kansas but it is assumed that the Capital Murder charges are serious enough to make that happen.

According to Jackson Police Chief Lee Vance, the suspects may also have been involved in the December 13-14 robbery of Sam’s Jewelry in Pascagoula, MS–as well as the robbery of another pawn shop in Jackson before the attack on Bill’s Pawn Jewelry Coin/Stamp Exchange. The other pawn shop has not been identified as of yet due to an open investigation.

Garcia is also wanted for Second Degree Burglary and the Unlawful Use of a Weapon in Missouri.
