1915’s Second Battle of Ypres, a tribute to the 1943-45 Victory Nickel and Canada’s safeguarding of Allied gold in the Second World War are among the fascinating stories told on Mint’s newest collector coins….

In launching its newest wave of collector coins, the Royal Canadian Mint is again exploring a broad spectrum of themes, ranging from sporting history to legendary nature, and including new stories of Canada in the First and Second World War. These coins have been available for purchase since April 7, 2015.

Artist Silvia Pecota has vividly captured Canada’s first major engagement of the First World War on a double-dated $20 fine silver coin commemorating the April 1915 Second Battle of Ypres. The third coin in the Mint’s five-Cent Fine Silver Legacy of the Canadian Nickel series boldly honours the victory-themed five-cent coins which were made of non-nickel alloys from 1943-45 in support of Canada’s Second World War effort. The Mint has also captured the fascinating story of the rescue and safe storage of Allied gold reserves abroad in Canada from 1940 to 1945. This $75 pure gold coin was designed by artist Joel Kimmel.

In addition to celebrating the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015TM in a dazzling array of fine silver and pure gold coins, the Mint is also launching these products:
