Rare Collectibles TV Releases Exclusive 250th Anniversary Commemoratives
Rare Collectibles TV (RCTV) has announced the release of limited-edition gold and silver commemoratives honoring the legendary 1776 Continental Currency dollar, one of the most iconic coins in early American history.
These new issues, dated 1776–2026, commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence and pay tribute to the enduring legacy of Founding Father Benjamin Franklin.
Honoring the Spirit of 1776
The original 1776 Continental Dollar holds a unique place in numismatic and American history.
Ultimately, the commemoratives symbolize the colonies’ unity and struggle for liberty during the Revolutionary War. Aditionally, RCTV Co-Founder Jack McNamara described the coin as “the coin of revolution, a great emblem of a new nation.”
McNamara added, “The Continental Dollar was a masterpiece of historic freedom forged during the dawn of the United States of America itself.”
A Design Rooted in Franklin’s Genius
Benjamin Franklin’s design for the Continental Dollar featured a sundial with the motto “Mind Your Business” on the obverse, reflecting the new nation’s industrious spirit. Inspecting the reverse, the design shows 13 interlocking rings with the motto “We Are One,” represented the unity and shared purpose of the original thirteen colonies.
