Thomas Tesoriero’s Twelve Caesars on Gold Coins at 5th Wall Street Bourse

By Wall Street Collectors Bourse….

A featured speaker at the 5th Bourse, Thomas Tesoriero will talk about his exciting collection “The Twelve Caesars on Gold Coins” on Thursday, October 22, at 2:00 p.m.

Among the many collections of ancient coins that can be assembled, one of the most challenging and desirable is that of the “Twelve Caesars”. They can be collected in copper (and its principal alloys), silver or gold; the latter is the most difficult to complete. Thus it is a rare opportunity to see this set of “Twelve Caesars” gold aurei.

Tesoriero, Twelve Caesars on Gold Coins
Gold aureus of Servius Sulpicius Galba (ruled 68-69 CE), the first to reign during the famous Year of the Four Emperors (69).

Mr. Tesoriero’s coins come from the famous Boscoreale Hoard, from the ashes of the 79 CE eruption of Vesuvius that buried Pompeii and Herculaneum. His Julius Caesar coin has a non-portrait Julius Caesar aureus, which is the standard for the set since these are extremely rare and difficult to find. To assemble such a set with coins ex Boscoreale is truly a remarkable undertaking that required years of Mr. Tesoriero’s perseverance and enthusiasm. There are not many Twelve Caesar sets in gold and certainly few of the quality of his.
