The United States Mint now accepts orders for the 1 5/16″ and 3″ medals honoring Joe Biden, the nation’s 46th President. The 1 5/16″ version is struck in 95% copper and 5% zinc and costs $20, while the larger version is made of 90% copper and 10% zinc and costs $160.

Joe Biden was inaugurated as the 46th President of the United States in 2021. He served two terms as Vice President under Barack Obama from 2009-2017 and served in the U.S. Senate, representing Delaware from 1973-2009.

The medal’s obverse design depicts President Biden. His name is inscribed at the top of the design, and a facsimile of his iconic signature is presented in the lower right, below which are the initials JFM of Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna.

Medallic artist Phebe Hemphill designed and sculpted the reverse. The design depicts the White House in the foreground and the United States Capitol Building in the distance. The inscription reads: NOTHING HAS BEEN GUARANTEED ABOUT DEMOCRACY IN AMERICA, and EVERY GENERATION HAS HAD TO DEFEND IT · PROTECT IT · CHOOSE IT”

  1. They sent it to me with no packaging at all aside from the box it was mailed in. I thought it would be in a plastic wrapper or something like ALL THE OTHER mint products, but no. it was just thrown into the box without any protection.

The uncirculated set, which I ordered the day before, was in an inner cardboard box and the coins were in two blister packs, just like they do with everything else.

What the “eff” is going on here?
