US Mint News – American Liberty Silver Medal Set Gets Oct. Release Date

U.S. Mint Silver Medals 2017

Limited Edition Silver Proof Set, final 2017 ATB issues also scheduled

By CoinWeek News Staff ….
The United States Mint has scheduled their deluxe offering of this year’s American Liberty 225th Anniversary four silver medal set for October 19, according to the Mint’s online catalog. Other items, including the 2017 Limited Edition Silver Proof Set and the last two issues from the 2017 America the Beautiful Quarters program, have also been given release dates.

First up is the Ellis Island (Statue of Liberty National Monument) quarter representing the state of New jersey. Numismatic products for this, the fourth ATB issue of the year, become available at the end of August and continue through September; rolls and bags can be purchased as of August 28, the Uncirculated 5oz Ellis Island silver coin goes on sale September 7, and the three-coin set–featuring uncirculated coins from the Denver and Philadelphia Mints, as well as a Proof coin from San Francisco–will be available starting September 14.

October 5 sees the release of the Limited Edition Silver Proof Set, which features 90-percent silver (“coin silver”) versions of the year’s five America the Beautiful quarters, the Kennedy half dollar and the Roosevelt dime. Also included in the set is a 2017 American Silver Eagle 1oz Proof coin.

And as stated above, the 2017 American Liberty four silver medal set goes on sale at noon Eastern Time on October 19. The set includes a laser-frosted Enhanced Uncirculated medal from West Point; a regular Uncirculated medal from Denver; a Proof medal from San Francisco; and a Reverse Proof from Philadelphia. The medals feature a design adapted from the 2017 American Liberty 225th Anniversary of the United States Mint High-Relief Gold Coin, which features an African-American Liberty on the obverse and a flying eagle on the reverse.

Rolls and bags for the fifth and final ATB release for 2017–the George Rogers Clark National Historical Park (Indiana) quarter–become available for order on November 13. The Mint will offer the Rogers Clark three-coin set starting November 27, and the Uncirculated 5oz silver coin goes on sale December 5.

Capping off the eighth year of the program, the America the Beautiful Quarter 2017 Circulating Coin Set becomes available for purchase on November 21.
