US Mint News

US Mint news covers any and all aspects of what is going on at the United States Mint. Authorized by the Coinage Act of 1792, the Mint has produced the nation’s circulating coinage for the last 232 years. Over time, however, the Mint’s duties have also come to include the production of commemorative coins and several popular bullion coin programs – among other special collectibles of numismatic interest.

And every new coin and program is something that collectors want to learn more about before they spend any money on it. The Mint’s busy annual schedule of releases is the backbone of almost all US Mint news coverage, and two key aspects of that are mintage and sales figures.

CoinWeek also covers the administrative side of the Mint, such as the retirement of important medallic artists or the appointment of new Mint Directors. We report on contemporary coin and medal legislation, and talk about new coin designs as they are unveiled.
