On August 3, 2026, the United States Mint will bring Superman™, Batman™, and Wonder Woman™ together in the Comic Art Three Medal Set, 2025 Super Heroes.
The three-medal set costs $130. Sales will begin at noon Eastern Time. The Mint will strike the medals at its Denver facility and package them with a certificate of authenticity.
Although the medals carry 2025 program designs, the Mint will release this combined set in 2026. That detail may confuse some buyers. However, the date reflects the first year of the Comic Art Coin and Medal Program rather than the set’s retail release year.
The result marks a new chapter for both coin collecting and American pop culture.
A Numismatic Justice League Assembles
The United States Mint has honored presidents, military leaders, Native American figures, explorers, athletes, and national landmarks. However, the Comic Art Coin and Medal Program moves into a different part of American history.
It recognizes the comic book as an American art form.
The Mint announced its collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products in July 2024. The agency described the project as an unprecedented public-private partnership and one of the largest collaborations of its kind in Mint history.
The program also represents a deliberate effort to reach new audiences. Comic readers, superhero fans, artists, and traditional numismatists can all find a point of entry.
More importantly, the Mint did not choose three minor characters to open the series. It began with the superhero trinity.
Superman represents hope and strength. Batman represents justice and courage. Wonder Woman represents peace and equality.
Together, they helped define the modern superhero.
Why the Medals Carry a 2025 Date
The United States Mint launched the Comic Art Coin and Medal Program in 2025. Superman appeared first. Batman and Wonder Woman followed as the second and third characters.
The Mint initially offered each hero on separate gold coins and silver medals. It also announced plans for a later set containing three non-precious-metal medals. That set would unite the first three annual designs in one package.
Therefore, the new product carries the name Comic Art Three Medal Set, 2025 Super Heroes, even though collectors cannot purchase it until August 3, 2026.
The medals do not carry denominations. As a result, they do not qualify as legal-tender coins. Instead, they belong to the long American tradition of official medals created for art, history, public recognition, and collecting.
The Backstory: The Mint Enters the Comic Book Universe
The Comic Art Coin and Medal Program runs for three years, from 2025 through 2027. The Mint planned three character designs for each year, creating a nine-hero series.
Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman launched the program. The Mint selected them because they rank among the earliest superheroes whose appeal has crossed generations.
Green Lantern™, Robin™, and Supergirl™ joined the 2026 lineup. The Flash™, Batgirl™, and Aquaman™ will complete the program in 2027.
That structure gives the three-medal set added significance. It does more than package three medals together. It preserves the opening chapter of the entire program.
The packaging also draws directly from comic book production. Legendary DC artist Dan Jurgens penciled the original presentation artwork, while Brett Breeding supplied the inks.
Jurgens has played a major role in modern DC history. His work includes the creation or co-creation of Doomsday, Booster Gold, and Hank Henshaw, who later became the Cyborg Superman. Jurgens and Breeding also worked together during the landmark “Death of Superman” era.
Therefore, the set connects two different forms of relief art. Mint artists translated superheroes into medallic sculpture, while comic artists framed those medals with traditional penciled and inked illustration.
Superman: Hope Begins at Home
The Superman medal does not focus only on power. Instead, it tells the story of the values behind the hero.
Superman Obverse
The obverse shows Superman flying above the Kent family farm.
The Sun illuminates the fields below. In the Superman story, Earth’s yellow Sun fuels his extraordinary abilities. However, the agricultural setting also recalls Clark Kent’s childhood in Smallville.
Martha and Jonathan Kent raised him there. They taught him compassion, responsibility, restraint, and respect for others.
That contrast drives the design. Superman gained his physical power from the Sun. Yet his human parents gave him the moral strength to use that power wisely.
The medal carries the inscription LIBERTY.

Superman Reverse
The reverse turns away from Superman’s costumed identity.
Instead, it shows a young Clark Kent watching an airplane cross the sky. Pa Kent stands farther away and watches his son.
Clark understands that he possesses extraordinary abilities. However, he has not yet decided how he will use them. Pa Kent also recognizes that Clark will soon leave home and follow a larger destiny.
The design captures the moment before the superhero emerges.
The inscriptions read SUPERMAN and HOPE AND STRENGTH.

Batman: The Dark Knight Moves Into Action
Batman provides the visual and philosophical counterpoint to Superman.
He has no superhuman powers. Instead, he relies on discipline, intelligence, preparation, technology, and courage.
Batman Obverse
The obverse catches Batman in motion as he leaps forward to protect people in danger.
Behind him, a carved stone eagle sits above a Gotham City building. The architectural element gives the scene a monumental quality. It also places the action firmly inside Batman’s urban world.
The inscription reads LIBERTY.

Batman Reverse
The reverse places Batman against the Gotham City skyline.
Above him, the Bat-Signal cuts through the darkness. The signal serves as both a call for help and a warning to criminals.
The inscriptions read BATMAN and JUSTICE AND COURAGE.
United States Mint Medallic Artist John P. McGraw designed the reverse. Menna sculpted it.
Wonder Woman: A Warrior for Peace
Wonder Woman combines strength with diplomacy.
Her medal shows her as both a warrior and a global advocate for justice. That dual role has defined the character for generations.
Wonder Woman Obverse
The obverse shows Wonder Woman leaping into action.
She carries her shield and the Lasso of Truth. Meanwhile, stripes from the American flag fill the background.
The flag imagery recalls the patriotic elements of the costume that her creators developed during World War II. However, the design does not present her as a symbol of force alone. Her shield suggests defense, while the lasso represents truth.
The inscription reads LIBERTY.

Wonder Woman Reverse
The reverse shows Wonder Woman above the Earth as three doves fly overhead.
The doves symbolize peace. The global setting reflects her role as an ambassador who seeks justice across national boundaries.
The inscriptions read WONDER WOMAN and PEACE AND EQUALITY.

The Mint lists no mintage limit and no product limit. However, it will apply an initial household order limit of one set. The Mint may later adjust or remove that restriction.
Although the product page identifies Denver as the production facility, the medals carry no Denver “D” mintmark.

Why This Set Could Reach Beyond Traditional Collectors
The Mint has created character medals before. Private mints and world mints also issue pop-culture collectibles regularly.
However, this program breaks new ground for the United States Mint.
It combines official federal medal production with licensed comic book characters. It also connects the work of Mint sculptors with the visual language of American comics.
That combination may attract several distinct collecting groups.
Traditional numismatists may collect the set as the first-year clad issue from a historic Mint program. Comic collectors may seek it for the characters and original packaging art. Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman specialists may also view it as an official addition to their character collections.
Moreover, the $130 set offers all three inaugural heroes for less than the original precious-metal products. The medals contain copper-nickel rather than silver or gold. Still, they preserve the same core character designs in an official Mint format.
