Only 125,000 Made: New 2026-W Silver Eagle With Liberty Bell Privy Mark
The United States Mint will release one of its most distinctive American Silver Eagles of 2026 on Tuesday, July 21.
Sales for the 2026 American Eagle One Ounce Silver Enhanced Uncirculated Coin will open at noon Eastern Daylight Time. The Mint has priced the coin at $169 and capped production at 125,000 pieces.
In addition, the Mint will enforce a household order limit of 10 coins during the first 24 hours of sales. The product has no separate product limit.
The new coin combines three major collector attractions. It carries a special Enhanced Uncirculated finish, a West Point “W” mintmark, and a one-year Liberty Bell privy mark celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States.
A Silver Eagle Created for America’s 250th Anniversary
The 2026-W Enhanced Uncirculated Silver Eagle bears the dual dates “1776 ~ 2026.” It also carries a Liberty Bell privy mark containing the numeral “250.”
The U.S. Mint created these elements to commemorate the Semiquincentennial of the nation’s founding.
The special devices also separate the 2026 coin from earlier Enhanced Uncirculated Silver Eagles. The Mint plans to use the dual date and Liberty Bell imagery on select products for one year only.
Introduced in 1986, American Silver Eagles have become one of the Mint’s most recognizable modern coin programs.
Collector editions use the same basic designs and silver standard as the official American Eagle bullion coin.
However, this release offers a finish that differs sharply from both a bullion strike and a conventional Proof.
What Is an Enhanced Uncirculated Finish?
The Mint creates the Enhanced Uncirculated appearance through a combination of surface treatments.
Laser-frosted areas contrast with an unpolished field. As a result, individual design elements display different levels of brightness and texture. The process brings greater visual separation to the coin’s devices without creating the deeply mirrored fields associated with Proof coins.
The West Point Mint strikes each coin and applies the facility’s “W” mintmark.
Weinman’s Walking Liberty Returns With a Dual Date
The obverse features Adolph A. Weinman’s celebrated Walking Liberty design.
Liberty strides toward the rising sun while the American flag wraps around her shoulders. She extends her right hand. Meanwhile, she carries branches of laurel and oak in her left hand.
The obverse inscriptions read:
LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and 1776 ~ 2026.
The Liberty Bell privy mark with the number “250” appears on the obverse and gives the coin its most immediate visual connection to the anniversary.
Eagle Reverse Includes an Anticounterfeiting Edge Feature
The reverse depicts an eagle approaching a landing while carrying an oak branch. The scene suggests that the bird will add the branch to a nest.
Reverse inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1 OZ. FINE SILVER, and ONE DOLLAR.
The coin also includes a variation in its reeded edge. The Mint uses that change as an additional anticounterfeiting security feature.
Limited-Edition Packaging
The Mint will place each coin inside a satin-lined black velvet presentation case. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany the coin.
The case will fit inside an outer sleeve decorated with a limited-edition Semiquincentennial design. Therefore, both the coin and its packaging connect directly to the 250th anniversary program.
Collectors can also use the “Remind Me” feature on the Mint’s product page before the July 21 release. The page also provides access to other American Eagle products.

More importantly, the coin records the nation’s 250th anniversary on one of the most widely collected modern American silver coins. That connection should place the 2026-W Enhanced Uncirculated Silver Eagle near the top of many collectors’ July purchase lists.
