World Banknote News – Kyrgyzstan Issues New Series IV 2016 Banknotes

The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic announces that, in accordance with the Resolution of the Board of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic “On the issue of banknotes in circulation Modified Series IV sample of the national currency in 2016” dated November 30, 2016, circulation banknotes of the modified series IV denomination of 200, 500 and 1000 soms will be released throughout the entire territory of the Kyrgyz Republic starting January 1, 2017.

Modified Series IV banknotes in denomination of 200, 500, 1000 soms sample 2016 have the following characteristics:

  • Clearly pronounced portrait made by traditional methods
  • In the lumen appears the word “catfish”
  • The year 2016

The modified notes of the national currency series IV will circulate alongside the previously issued banknotes of 1, 10, 50 soms and the 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000 and 5000 soms national currency of the Kyrgyz Republic.

All banknotes of the national currency have an official means of payment in the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic and are subject to mandatory acceptance as means of payment, regardless of model year.
