Limited to 160,000 Sets, the San Francisco-Minted Pair Marks Latest Chapter in Popular Modern Series

Collectors can purchase the 2025 Morgan and Peace Dollar Reverse Proof Two-Coin Set starting at noon EST on December 11. The United States Mint has confirmed a total mintage of 160,000 sets, with each set priced at $215.

Each coin in the set is struck in .999 fine silver at the San Francisco Mint. This release includes one Morgan Dollar and one Peace Dollar, both presented in reverse proof finish. Notably, this finish has grown in popularity among modern collectors due to its frosted devices and mirror-like fields.

In addition, both coins are individually encapsulated and packaged together in a blue presentation box. The set also includes a Certificate of Authenticity, adding to its appeal for serious collectors.

To manage demand, the Mint has set a household order limit of 5 sets for the first 24 hours.

A Continuing Modern Tradition

The Morgan and Peace Dollar programs were revived in 2021, bringing historic designs back into modern circulation. Since then, each annual release has attracted strong interest from collectors.

The Morgan Dollar, originally issued from 1878 to 1904 and briefly in 1921, represents westward expansion and the industrial rise of the United States. In contrast, the Peace Dollar, introduced in the aftermath of World War I and issued through 1935, reflects the nation’s emergence as a global power.

While earlier modern issues featured uncirculated and proof finishes, this year’s set introduces a fresh perspective. The reverse proof variant, with its bold contrast between frosted elements and mirror-like fields, enhances the visual impact of these iconic designs.

Together, the Morgan and Peace Dollars continue to bridge the gap between America’s numismatic past and its evolving modern series.

  1. I wonder how many years the mint will keep doing this, I guess until collectors stop buying them. I am getting these two coins

  2. I can just imagine a collector who, after spend years of putting together a complete set of Morgans or Peace dollars, thinks they can rest now. Them BAM! 2021 the Mint starts making them again for at least 5 more years! So much for having completed that set.

  3. Good set for people kind of new to the hobby or to those collectors who love Morgans. For me I just need the one and it’s enough.
