Site selection for the 2020 and 2021 World’s Fair of Money was a major topic of discussion during meetings of the American Numismatic Association’s (ANA) Board of Governors at the Anaheim World’s Fair of Money in August. Pittsburgh was selected as host city for the 2020 show, while the 2021 show is slated to return to Rosemont, Illinois, (a suburb of Chicago near the O’Hare Airport).
PNG/ANA Numismatic Trade Show Condensed
In other World’s Fair of Money news, the ANA Board of Governors agreed to abbreviate the 2017 PNG/ANA Numismatic Trade Show to one day; the show is traditionally held immediately prior to the World’s Fair of Money. The pre-show event takes place Monday, July 31, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Colorado Convention Center, followed by the Denver World’s Fair of Money from August 1-5.
Dealer set up will begin Tuesday, August 1, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Opening ceremonies and ribbon cutting will commence at 12:45 p.m.
Ancient and World Section Returns to the Bourse Floor
The Ancient and World section will be reinstated on the bourse floor at the 2017 Denver World’s Fair of Money. The ANA will hold a separate table draw for this section using the existing STARS system on May 9-10. The regular World’s Fair of Money table draw will be conducted on May 15-19.

Other Board Actions
In other business, the ANA Board of Governors voted to:
- Approve an agreement with the Newman Numismatic Portal (NNP) to allow indexing of The Numismatist, make the magazine available for online searching, and allow users a limited viewing of verbatim excerpts containing the searched-for-text. NNP will not provide full-view access of The Numismatist.
- Select the Texas Numismatic Association and the Northeast Tarrant Coin Club as co-host clubs for the 2018 National Money Show in Irving, Texas. Carl Stang was selected as Host Chair.
- Adopt an ANA Gift Acceptance Policy as well as an ANA Fundraising Policy and Procedures.
- Name Jason Paonessa as the ANA Youth Board Intern.
