Description:
In 1989, the Austrian Mint introduced its best-selling and award-winning .9999 fine, one troy ounce Vienna Philharmonic gold bullion coin.
In 2002, the Mint issued the first silver bullion Philharmonic.
Now, the Austrian Mint has added a new precious metal to the repertoire, with the release of the first platinum Philharmonic bullion coin at the 2016 World Money Fair in Berlin. Notably, it is the very first platinum coin of any series issued by the Austrian Mint in its entire history.
Obverse:
Centered, the famed pipe organ from the Vienna Musikverein’s Golden Hall. Wrapping around the top of the coin is the inscription REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH. Beneath the organ is the coin’s weight, described as “1 UNZEN PLATIN 999.5” and the date, “2016”. Wrapping around the bottom of the coin is the denomination 100 EURO.
Reverse:
An assortment of orchestral instruments: the French horn, the bassoon, a harp, four violins, and a cello. Wrapping around the top of the coin is the inscription WIENER PHILHARMONIKER.
