The Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) has released candidate designs for the 2015 High Relief 24 Karat Gold Coin and Silver Medal and the Jack Nicklaus Congressional Gold Medal.
The designs will be reviewed and discussed at the CCAC’s upcoming public meeting, which takes place on Tuesday, January 27, from 9am until 4:15pm Eastern Standard Time (EST), and Wednesday, January 28, from 9am until 11:30am EST.
Tuesday’s meeting will cover the High Relief Gold and Silver and Jack Nicklaus designs, along with the review and discussion of themes for the 65th Infantry “Borinqueneers” Congressional Gold Medal, the 2017 20th Anniversary American Eagle Platinum Bullion Coin Program and the 2018-2020 American Eagle Platinum Bullion Coin Program.
Wednesday’s meeting will cover the 2016 National Park Service 100th Anniversary Commemorative Coin Program and the 2016 series of 24K Gold Coin Anniversary products (Mercury dime, Walking Liberty half dollar and Standing Liberty quarter).
Members of the public are encouraged to attend. The meeting will be located at the United States Mint, 801 9th Street NW, Washington, D.C., rooms B and C. About the CCAC
In accordance with 31 U.S.C. 5135, the CCAC:
- Advises the Secretary of the Treasury on any theme or design proposals relating to circulating coinage, bullion coinage, Congressional Gold Medals, and national and other medals.
- Advises the Secretary of the Treasury with regards to the events, persons, or places to be commemorated by the issuance of commemorative coins in each of the five calendar years succeeding the year in which a commemorative coin designation is made.
- Makes recommendations with respect to the mintage level for any commemorative coin recommended.
