Coin Industry News: Sack & Kiesselbach Receives World Money Fair Award

The producer of oil-hydraulic presses Sack & Kiesselbach, well-known in the numismatic world, has received the World Money Fair Award for their innovative power. The company has continued to meet new challenges for the last 127 years.

On February 2, 2018 the company Sack & Kiesselbach has been distinguished by the World Money Fair Award during the World Money Fair in Berlin. The laudation specifically mentioned the newest innovation of Sack & Kiesselbach, the TMA-350, a table medal automat. It enables mints to emboss very small batches of coins or medals in a “Proof” minting quality – extremely popular with collectors – without having to waste a lot of time while changing format and tooling when switching the denomination minted. The machine thus takes account of the trend that customers prefer to buy high-quality commemorative coins and medals with a very small mintage.

Sack & Kiesselbach is especially proud of the fact that the company works with an exemplary collaboration between generations in order to use the existing experience to create new innovations. Consequently, Albert Beck, the founder and honorary president of the World Money Fair, did not just ask the executive partner and president Claus Günther Knorr to the stage, but also the oldest and youngest representative of the engineering-team which created the TMA-350: Wolfgang Schmitz, shareholder at Sack & Kiesselbach, and Markus Schlein, who has been working as an authorised manager for Sack & Kiesselbach since 2016. There is an age difference of more than 35 years between these two, and yet they work together perfectly to condition a long-established German company fit for the future.

His great-grandchild Claus-Günther Knorr is the executive partner of Sack & Kiesselbach, the world&’s leading manufacturer of oil-hydraulic presses for the minting industry. Sack & Kiesselbach is one of the many successful SMEs that are family-owned and managed by a member of the founding family. Sack & Kiesselbach has had its head office in Meerbusch since 2016.
