The 57th Street Hoard, purchased last year by Stack’s-Bowers, reportedly contained over one million coins.
David Lawrence Rare Coins has acquired over 6000 certified US coins from the Stack’s-Bowers collection of the 57th Street Hoard. The Hoard, which has previously been described as one of the greatest American coin collections ever acquired contains everything from large cents to Silver dollars is believed to have included over one million coins and have a total value between 15 and 20 million dollars. In its original press release, Stack’s-Bowers revealed the size of the collection, which included rolls and canvas bags filled with coins of all types.
According to DLRC Vice President and Senior Numismatist, John Brush, “This hoard is one of the coolest groups of coins we’ve ever acquired at one time. The amount of affordable, NGC-certified collector coins is really exceptional and there’s literally something here for everyone.” Brush continued to say that DLRC is busy preparing the coins for sale on our web site and partner sites, including eBay and Amazon.com. The first coins will be available in DLRC Auctions starting March 31.
