It has been called the greatest buried treasure ever found in the United States.
More than 1400 gold coins were unearthed by a couple walking their dog at an undisclosed location in northern California. The coins they uncovered have been valued at greater than $10 million dollars.
The first coin to be sold was auctioned at a live event held at the old San Francisco Mint building with the proceeds being donated to the San Francisco Museum & Historical Society.
The remainder of the coins are being sold by Kagin’s and on Amazon.com.
