Gold & Silver News – Perth Mint Unveils Australia’s 2017 Bullion Coin Program

The Perth Mint has unveiled the stunning new designs of Australia’s official annual bullion coin program.

The 2017 suite of releases showcase Australia’s iconic fauna in their natural environment, and the 10th animal from the ancient Chinese zodiac as the lunar calendar enters the anticipated Year of the Rooster.

The renowned Australian Lunar series comprises 99.99% pure gold and 99.99% pure silver coins, ranging in weights from 1/20oz to 10 kilograms, while the popular Australian Kookaburra and Koala 99.9% pure silver issues are available from 1oz to 1 kilogram.

As the most instantly recognizable wildlife symbol in Australia, the kangaroo is also featured in 99.99% pure gold on coins crafted from 1/10oz to 1 kilogram, with an additional unlimited 1oz 99.99% silver kangaroo coin nestled amongst this classic bullion range.

A 99.95% pure platinum Australian Platypus 1oz release completes the trio of precious metals offered, and establishes the investment program as a unique and convenient way to diversify any wealth portfolio.

Each coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 and reflects the Ian Rank-Broadley (View Designer’s Profile) effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on its obverse.

With Australian bullion coins contributing to 94% of the Mint’s total coin sales in 2015/16, these offerings are a testament to their renowned pedigree as a trusted and highly sought-after investment choice throughout the world.

Perth Mint Chief Executive Officer Richard Hayes said: “Reflecting on last year’s success which has seen our coin sales more than triple, we are confident that our 2017 bullion program will continue to satisfy investor demand and grow our market position globally.”

The Mint will release its suite of investment offerings across the next five months. The Australian Lunar series will be available from September, followed by the gold Kangaroo and Kookaburra in October, the silver Kangaroo in November, with the Koala and Platypus to be released in January.

The complete suite of 2017 bullion coins is available from the Bullion Trading Desk at The Perth Mint, 310 Hay Street in East Perth, on the BullionLine 1300 201 112 (Australia), +61 8 9421 7218 (International) or at perthmintbullion.com.
