The April 18, 2015 Coin and Currency Auction and Mail Bid Sale of the Northern Illinois and Tennessee Collections (among others), conducted by Sonny Henry’s Auction Service of Mendota, Illinois, was held at the Midwest Center for Christian Living Lasalle, IL. It was very fast paced and exciting; there were over 500 lots, and bidding was very competitive. Over 70 bidders were in attendance, coming from such states as Illinois, Iowa, Indiana and Wisconsin, while mail bids came in from 35 different states.
Several coin clubs were also represented.
One- and five-dollar bills given away during the auction. A number was drawn for $100.00 and several other coins, and money prizes were given away at the end. Overall prices were strong, maintaining a recent streak. Early Type and Silver Dollars were auction leaders, but common-date, low-grade coins were also commanding higher prices. According to Sonny Henry’s Auction Service, the April 18 auction exceeded all expectations.
