Established in 1968, the Associazione Nazionale Polizia di Stato or ANPS (National Association of the State Police) is committed to high ethical purposes and acts as a trait-d’union between retired and in-service police officers joining the Association voluntarily. The ANPS is present throughout the Country with 170 Sections and abroad with two headquarters in Toronto and New York. The Association is the guardian of the Medagliere della Polizia di Stato, an extraordinary symbol of the sacrifice and devotion of the Police personnel and of their commitment to citizens security.

Obverse: logo of the ANPS, Associazione Nazionale della Polizia di Stato (National Association of the State Police) combined with the number “50”. Below, cartouche with the inscription “ANNIVERSARIO”, the dates “1968”, year of the foundation, and “2018”, year of the coin’s issue, followed by the name of the designer “PETRASSI”.

Reverse: in the foreground, two figures representing ANPS, Associazione Nazionale della Polizia di Stato (National Association of the State Police), in their dress uniforms; in the background, detail from the painting representing “Saint Michael the Archangel”, Patron Saint of Police Forces, an artwork by Guido Reni conserved in the Church of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Rome. On the right, “R”, identifying the Mint of Rome; below, the value “5 EURO”; around, the inscription “ASSOCIAZIONE NAZIONALE POLIZIA DI STATO”.
