Queen Elizabeth II: A Royal Record Remembered in Timeless Pieces

By Royal Australian Mint….
Only moments away from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II reaching a Royal Record, the Royal Australian Mint has released a selection of beautifully designed collectible coins to commemorate the occasion.

Still a beloved figure after 63 years as Queen, Her Majesty will soon gain the title of the longest-reigning Commonwealth monarch, surpassing Queen Victoria’s time spent on the throne.

Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer the Hon Kelly O’Dwyer MP said this royal milestone was about commemorating the remarkable journey of Her Majesty, from coronation to the present.

“This commemorative coin series is a symbolic acknowledgement of Her Majesty’s many years of service, and the Royal Australian Mint has created a beautiful work of coinage art to represent this milestone,” said Ms O’Dwyer.

Featuring Her Majesty’s royal insignia, the Coronation Spoon, an enchanting border of the coronation oil’s ingredients and Australia’s golden wattle, the timeless design has been struck onto fine silver, gold and cupronickel for this collection

“The latest addition to the Mint’s Royal Collection, the design of these coins was created by our youngest coin designer, Bronwyn King, who has perfectly captured the link between Australia and the Commonwealth in artistic form,” said Royal Australian Mint Chief Executive Officer Mr. Ross MacDiarmid.

The fine silver and gold coins have also been included as part of limited edition three-coin sets in a joint venture with the Royal Mint UK and the Royal Canadian Mint, a tribute to the bond between these countries and the Commonwealth.

Commemorating the reign of Her Majesty since her Coronation on 2 June 1953, the sets have strict worldwide mintages of 2015 for the fine silver proof, retailing at $549, and 100 for the gold proof, retailing at $9999, making them highly desirable for collectors and royal enthusiasts.

The Gold Proof and Fine Silver Proof Three-Coin sets, the $5 Fine Silver Proof Coin, retailing at $100 each, and the 50c Uncirculated Coin, retailing at $10 each, honouring this milestone can all be purchased from the Mint Contact Centre on 1300 652 020 or by visiting the Royal Australian Mint’s online store https://eshop.ramint.gov.au.
