Susan B. Anthony Dollars

The Susan B. Anthony dollar was a coin of historic firsts. The Susan B. Anthony dollar was the first small dollar coin produced by the United States Mint and the first circulating U.S. coin to prominently feature a historic American woman.

Susan B. Anthony dollars replaced the cumbersome Eisenhower dollar but never caught on. Even though Congress never intended for the coin to replace the one-dollar bill, its similarity in size and shape to the Washington Quarter confused the general public and ultimately doomed the coin.

No longer a footnote in American history, Susan B. Anthony dollars have an active following amongst coin collectors.
