When talking about coins, medals, and tokens (etc.) certified and encapsulated in a plastic third-party grading service holder, an insert is a piece of paper inside the holder, upon the front of which a coin’s grade, date, mint of origin, attributes, pedigrees, and certification number are printed. Dealers and collectors may use the terms “label” and “insert” interchangeably.
