Design

The reverse of the coin features a representation of a domesticated or pet pig gilded in 24-carat gold, along with four piglets, amid the stylised foliage. The Chinese character for ‘pig’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Pig’ appear in the design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.

The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2019 year-date, the weight and fineness, and the monetary denomination are shown on the coin’s obverse.

Designer(s):

Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was chosen to appear on the coinage of the United Kingdom in 1998. His design began to appear on collector coins that year and became widespread starting in 1999.

Since 2008, Perth Mint artist Aleysha Howarth has infused her personal sense of style and a love for nature into her coin designs. Alicia earned a degree in Graphic Design from the Central TAFE School of Art and Design. Her innovative colorized ballet coin series of 2011 earned her international acclaim.
