Numismatist Ray Herz offers this fascinating look at the career of medallic sculptor Gilroy Roberts. Jones served as Chief Engraver of the United States Mint from 1948-1964. Roberts left the Mint in 1964 to join Joseph Segal to found the Franklin Mint. Gilroy Roberts’ most famous design is the obverse of the Kennedy Half Dollar.
