Mother Earthfine silver coin creates the illusion of a life-like water droplet enveloping a coloured image of our planet to raise environmental awareness

In launching its fourth wave of 2016 collector coins, the Royal Canadian Mint is illustrating the vital importance of water to our planet with a $20 fine silver coin featuring the three-dimensional impression of a real drop of this life-giving resource. This feature is surrounded by engravings of Canadian fauna and flora designed by artist Alexandra Lefort. Another striking innovation can be found on the Tony Bianco-designed 2016 $20 Fine Silver Coin – Weather Phenomenon: Radiant Rainbow which combines diffused technology and vivid colour to create the life-like image of a rainbow emerging from a stormy landscape.

New coins available this month also include:

  • The 2016 $10 Fine Silver Coin – Iconic Canada: Inukshuk, featuring the Mint’s first-ever reverse gold plated coin, designed by Tony Bianco;
  • The 2016 Special Edition Silver Dollar Proof Set – 150th Anniversary of the Transatlantic Cable, featuring a coloured illustration of SS Great Eastern by Yves Bérubé;
  • The 2016 Circulation Roll – 50 Cents, packaged in a special wrap;
  • The 2016 $25 Fine Silver Coin – Sculptural Art of Parliament: Foliated Green Man, by Dominion Sculptor Phil White (Coin 2 of 3);
  • The 2016 $500 Pure Gold Coin – Mythical Realms of the Haida: The Bear, crafted of 99.99% pure gold and featuring red and black enamel artwork by artist April White, also available on a 5 oz. fine silver coin;
  • The half-kilogram 2016 $1250 Pure Gold Coin and $125 Fine Silver Coin – Roaring Grizzly Bear, designed by artist Pierre Leduc;
  • The 2016 $10 Fine Silver Coin – Canadian Maple Leaves, featuring a specimen finish design by artist Donna Kriekle;
  • The 2016 $10 Fine Silver Coin – Day of the Dinosaurs: The Spiked Lizard, with a coloured illustration of an armoured Styracosaurus by Julius Csotonyi (Coin 2 of 3);
  • The 2016 $10 Fine Silver Coin Batman v Superman: Dawn Of JusticeTM – SupermanTM (Coin 2 of 4); and
