World Coins – Royal Canadian Mint 4th Numismatic Catalogue of 2016: First-Ever 3D ‘Water Drop’ Effect

Mother Earthfine silver coin creates the illusion of a life-like water droplet enveloping a coloured image of our planet to raise environmental awareness

In launching its fourth wave of 2016 collector coins, the Royal Canadian Mint is illustrating the vital importance of water to our planet with a $20 fine silver coin featuring the three-dimensional impression of a real drop of this life-giving resource. This feature is surrounded by engravings of Canadian fauna and flora designed by artist Alexandra Lefort. Another striking innovation can be found on the Tony Bianco-designed 2016 $20 Fine Silver Coin – Weather Phenomenon: Radiant Rainbow which combines diffused technology and vivid colour to create the life-like image of a rainbow emerging from a stormy landscape.
