ANA Membership Costs Rise November 1. Here’s What Coin Collectors Will Pay
The American Numismatic Association will raise membership dues on November 1, 2026, as higher operating costs put pressure on one of the hobby’s largest educational organizations.
The ANA says inflation over the past several years drove the Board of Governors to approve the new pricing. The association has traditionally tried to keep membership affordable while maintaining its publications, educational programs, library, museum, conventions, and collector outreach.
For many members, the most visible change will add $10 to the cost of a one-year membership.
Gold digital membership will rise from the current $35 annual rate to $45. Platinum membership, which includes the printed edition of The Numismatist, will increase from $55 to $65.
Senior Platinum membership will rise from $50 to $60. Meanwhile, annual Gold Young Numismatist membership will move from $16 to $26, while Platinum YN membership will increase from $26 to $36.
The new rates take effect November 1, 2026.
ANA Says Higher Dues Will Support Collector Programs
The ANA says membership revenue helps fund both member services and broader educational programs available to collectors, researchers, academic communities, and the general public.
Membership renewals also support investments in new technology and expanded educational programming.
“It’s vital that our organization provide a wide-ranging variety of resources, tools, and services to our members,” ANA Executive Director Kim Kiick said. “We work hard to keep our membership dues as low as possible, but every now and then, these necessary adjustments allow us to maintain services and programs you deservedly expect.”
The ANA offers several membership levels. Gold members receive digital access to The Numismatist and its complete digital archive. Platinum members also receive the printed monthly magazine, with the additional cost helping cover printing and mailing.
The archive stretches back to 1888, when The Numismatist first appeared.
New ANA Annual Membership Rates
The ANA will continue to offer discounted multi-year memberships. The simplified rate structure looks like this:

The ANA announcement did not list a five-year rate for Platinum Young Numismatist membership.
Life Membership Rates Also Change
The association will also update its Life Membership pricing. Members can pay the full amount at once or use a 12- or 24-month payment plan.

In each case, the down payment and scheduled monthly payments equal the listed Life Membership cost.
What ANA Members Receive
The dues increase comes as the ANA continues to offer a broad mix of collecting, research, educational, and convention benefits.
Members receive 12 issues of The Numismatist each year, either digitally or in print depending on membership level. They also receive access to the publication’s digital archive, which covers every volume from 1888 to the present.
Members also receive free admission to the ANA’s two annual conventions: the National Money Show and the World’s Fair of Money. The World’s Fair of Money ranks among the hobby’s largest annual conventions.
Another major benefit involves the Dwight N. Manley Numismatic Library in Colorado Springs. The ANA describes it as the world’s largest numismatic lending library. Its holdings exceed 128,000 books, auction catalogs, periodicals, and other numismatic resources.
Members can borrow books and manuscripts from the library. They also gain access to research resources that span virtually every major area of numismatics.
In addition, ANA members receive free admission to the Edward C. Rochette Money Museum at ANA headquarters in Colorado Springs.
Education Remains a Major Part of ANA Membership
Education represents another major part of the membership package.
Members can enroll in the ANA’s Numismatic Diploma Program. The program allows collectors to earn the “Numismatic Scholar” certificate by completing a series of courses. Subjects include introductory numismatics, U.S. coin grading, counterfeit detection, and the minting process.
Members can also attend the ANA Summer Seminar in Colorado Springs. The annual event brings collectors, researchers, dealers, and professional numismatists together for intensive week-long courses. The two-week program offers classes for both newer collectors and experienced specialists.
Additional member benefits include discounts on selected traveling and technical seminars, collection insurance, hobby-related services, and monthly Money Museum auctions. The ANA also offers special membership benefits involving Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) and Paper Money Guaranty (PMG).
Members can also join the association’s members-only Facebook group. The group gives collectors a place to discuss research, collections, club activities, upcoming shows, and other numismatic subjects.
Membership Dues Also Support Free ANA Programs
The ANA emphasizes that membership dues do more than provide services to paying members.
“Membership support also guarantees ANA outreach continues even to those who may not have the means to join, or who are just discovering the world of money for the first time,” Kiick said.
For example, the association publishes The Reading Room, an online resource aimed at collectors who prefer digital content. It includes exclusive columns, feature stories, news, and audio versions of articles.
The ANA also offers educational programming through Aristotle’s Vault and NumismaTalks. In addition, it provides extensive activities and educational opportunities for Young Numismatists.
Collectors can explore Money Museum exhibits online, including objects that the museum does not currently display. The ANA also provides collecting tools, educational videos, blogs, podcasts, and other resources for collectors at different experience levels.
Meanwhile, the association uses social media to reach collectors and build connections across the hobby. Its outreach includes Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and other digital communities. The September dues announcement also identifies Reddit as part of that outreach.
An Investment in the ANA’s Next Chapter
The dues increase arrives as nonprofit numismatic organizations face many of the same cost pressures affecting businesses and collectors. Printing, mailing, technology, programming, and facility costs all contribute to the expense of maintaining a national organization.
For the ANA, however, the central question extends beyond the price of membership.
The association maintains a numismatic library holding more than 128,000 resources. It preserves more than a century of The Numismatist. It operates a museum, runs two major annual conventions, conducts Summer Seminar, develops online courses, supports Young Numismatists, and provides educational material to collectors around the country.
Beginning November 1, members will pay more to support those programs.
