The Greater Houston Coin Club held its annual end of the year dinner and party on Dec. 17, 2015 at the Embassy Suites on the Katy Freeway in Houston, Tx.
A fine crowd of 60 members and guests attended the event. Everyone had an delicious dinner and several door prizes were awarded throughout the evening. All prizes were donated by club members.
Certificates of recognition were presented to all who gave an educational presentation to the club at one of its 2015 monthly meetings. Pictured to the right is one of the recipients, Claude Mathes (R), receiving his certificate from Bill Watson.
Richard Hyde was presented with the 2015 Barney Loebe Award for his educational presentation “Guerilla Coin Collecting”. This award is given for the best educational program of the year as judged by club members at monthly meetings.
Mike Greenspan was the 2015 recipient of the Francis Townsend Award. Named in honor of a former long-time GHCC member, the Townsend Award is presented annually to that GHCC member, or couple, who has distinguished themselves by providing outstanding service to numismatics and the GHCC.

The guest speaker for the evening was Dr. O. H. “Bud” Frazier. Dr. Frazier was a high school classmate of GHCC member Bill Watson, and Dr. Frazier spoke about his distinguished career in the field of heart surgery.
