Free admission, extraordinary auction previews, America’s 250th Anniversary coins, and hundreds of dealers headline the November 12–14 event.
An 1885 Trade Dollar, one of only five known, and a historic 1794 Flowing Hair Dollar will give collectors two extraordinary reasons to visit Baltimore this November.
Both rarities headline a major Stack’s Bowers Galleries auction preview during the 2026 Whitman Fall Coin & Collectibles Expo, November 12–14, at the Baltimore Convention Center.
However, these legendary silver dollars represent only part of the attraction.
The Whitman Baltimore Coin Expo will fill Halls A, B, and C with hundreds of coin dealers, rare currency, precious metals, and collectibles. In addition, visitors can explore America’s 250th Anniversary coinage, attend educational programs, meet fellow collectors, and introduce young people to numismatics.
Best of all, general admission is free.
Whitman Baltimore Coin Expo Arrives During an Active Coin Market
Baltimore has long served as an important gathering place for the American rare coin trade. Consequently, its major conventions offer collectors an opportunity to examine fresh inventory and observe market activity firsthand.

Whitman expects strong attendance as the hobby enters the final months of 2026.
Dealers will offer everything from classic U.S. gold and silver coins to modern bullion, commemorative issues, and collectible sets. Visitors will also find ancient and world coins, paper money, medals, historic maps, and other historical collectibles.
Collectors can compare coins, discuss grades, evaluate prices, and negotiate directly with dealers. Meanwhile, investors can examine precious metals and certified coins across a broad range of budgets.
Christy Burbank, General Manager of Whitman Expos, describes the November convention as a major gathering for the hobby.
“November in Baltimore is when the whole hobby comes together,” Burbank said.
She also emphasized the combination of a major auction preview, educational programming, family activities, and America’s Semiquincentennial celebration.
Two Legendary Silver Dollars Lead Stack’s Bowers Auction Preview
One of the Expo’s biggest attractions will take place away from the main bourse floor.
Stack’s Bowers Galleries, the official auctioneer of Whitman Expos, will conduct lot viewing for its November 2026 Showcase Auction in Room 307.
Viewing runs Tuesday, November 10, through Friday, November 13, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Among the highlights is Property from an Alabama Family, an extraordinary group of American numismatic rarities.
The collection includes an 1885 Trade Dollar graded PCGS Proof-63+ with CAC approval. Only five examples of this legendary date survive.
Another highlight is a 1794 Flowing Hair Dollar graded NGC MS-62+. The coin represents the first year of United States silver dollar production and carries a pedigree to the Larry H. Miller Collection.
Additional treasures include an NGC MS-65 1792 Half Disme, an 1879 Flowing Hair Stella in Proof-66 Deep Cameo, and an 1851 Augustus Humbert $50 gold piece.
Together, these coins offer collectors an uncommon opportunity to examine major American rarities before they cross the auction block.
Mack C. Chase Walking Liberty Half Dollars Take Center Stage
The auction also features Part II of the celebrated Mack C. Chase Collection of Walking Liberty Half Dollars.
Chase assembled an exceptional collection of this popular 20th-century series. Many examples have remained outside the marketplace for decades.
Brian Kendrella, President of Stack’s Bowers Galleries, noted that advanced collectors face significant challenges when seeking certain Walking Liberty dates in the highest Mint State grades.
As a result, the Chase offering presents an important opportunity for specialists pursuing exceptional examples of Adolph A. Weinman’s celebrated design.
The Mack C. Chase Collection receives a dedicated auction session on November 18.
Eleven Auction Sessions Follow the Baltimore Show
Stack’s Bowers will conduct 11 live and online auction sessions November 16–20 and November 23–25.
The live sessions take place at the firm’s Griffin Studios in Costa Mesa, California. Therefore, the Baltimore Expo serves as an important preview opportunity rather than the location of the live auction.
Rarities Night takes place November 17 and features the Alabama Family Collection. The following day brings the dedicated Mack C. Chase sale.
Other U.S. coin offerings span half cents through later federal issues. Highlights include the Emerald Coast Collection of Federal Contract Coinage and the Jim Koenings Collection.
Three currency sessions will cover Colonial and Continental notes, Confederate issues, fractional and obsolete currency, National Banknotes, War of 1812 Treasury Notes, large- and small-size notes, and error notes.
Collectors will also find medals, tokens, early American coins, and a dedicated session of physical cryptocurrency.
Three additional online U.S. coin sessions conclude the auction November 23–25.
Collectors can review the complete catalog and session schedule at [Stack’s Bowers Galleries](https://stacksbowers.com/all-auctions/).
Celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary and 80 Years of the Red Book
The 2026 Expo also celebrates two milestones that connect America’s monetary past with the future of coin collecting.
First, the United States marks 250 years since the Declaration of Independence.
Whitman plans to offer products from its U.S. 250th Anniversary collection, including circulating, Proof, and commemorative coin offerings. Its broader Semiquincentennial product line also includes specialty coin albums, folders, and certified coins.
These offerings give collectors a chance to explore the distinctive 2026 coinage and preserve examples for future generations.
Second, Whitman celebrates the 80th anniversary of A Guide Book of United States Coins, better known as the Official Red Book.

Since its first publication in 1946, the Red Book has helped millions of collectors identify coins, understand mintages, and research market values.
The anniversary holds special meaning in a year when the United States has introduced new coin designs to commemorate its founding.
Robert Rodriguez Reopens the Continental Dollar Mystery

Robert L. Rodriguez
Collectors interested in early American history will have another reason to attend.
Whitman has announced that researcher and collector Robert L. Rodriguez will sign copies of his new book, The Continental Dollar: A Journey of Discovery, on Thursday, November 12, at 1:30 p.m.
The book explores one of American numismatics’ enduring mysteries.
Collectors have debated the 1776 Continental Dollar for generations. Was it an early American coin or a medal? Who produced it, and where did its manufacture take place?
Rodriguez combines historical research, advanced scientific analysis, and reverse-engineering experiments to investigate those questions.
His research examines evidence concealed beneath the surfaces of surviving specimens and challenges long-standing assumptions about their origins.
The richly illustrated volume combines scientific investigation with the detective work of numismatic history.
For collectors fascinated by the Revolutionary era, the book adds another dimension to the nation’s 250th Anniversary celebration.
PNG Dealer Day Opens Baltimore Coin Expo Week
The convention’s activities begin before public admission opens.
On Wednesday, November 11, the Professional Numismatists Guild will conduct PNG Dealer Day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This trade-only event brings professional dealers together for wholesale buying and selling. The session takes place in Halls A, B, and C.
Dealer setup for PNG Day runs from 9 to 10 a.m.
Later that evening, Whitman will host The Coin Toss: Dealer Appreciation Reception, from 5 to 8 p.m. on the show floor.
The reception coincides with additional dealer setup and recognizes the professionals who help make the convention possible.
Thursday morning brings another gathering.
Strike & Shine: Whitman Expo Opening Reception runs from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Charles Street Lobby. Whitman will serve coffee and pastries before the public opening.
Early-bird visitors can enter the bourse at 10 a.m. with paid admission. Free public admission begins at noon.
Education, Collector Clubs, and Family Activities
Beyond the bourse floor, Whitman offers a full schedule of educational and collector activities.
The American Numismatic Association will conduct an Introduction to Grading class on November 10 and 11, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., in Room 304.
Meanwhile, major grading services will accept submissions during the show. PCGS plans to accept submissions for grading at its offices, rather than offer on-site grading. NGC and PMG also plan to accept regular submissions.
Young collectors will find daily activities at the Kid’s Nook, Booth 148. Whitman also plans hourly door raffles and giveaways.

Scouting America Workshop Offers a Path into Coin Collecting
Saturday, November 14, brings a special Scouting America coin collecting workshop from 10 a.m. to noon.
Cub Scouts can work toward the Adventures in Coins elective. Older Scouts can work toward their Coin Collecting merit badge.
Organizers also plan free gifts to encourage Scouts and their families to explore the hobby.
Whitman notes that the workshop requires a firm commitment from at least 10 Scouts. Families should contact the organizer in advance to reserve a place and confirm the session.
Collector Clubs Bring Specialized Knowledge to Baltimore
Collectors who want to deepen their knowledge can attend several club meetings and public presentations.
On Thursday, November 12, the Colonial Coin Collectors Club (C4) has a study group scheduled for 3 p.m. The Maryland State Numismatic Association follows with its meeting at 4 p.m.
Friday, November 13, begins with the Liberty Seated Collectors Club at 9 a.m.
The Early American Coppers Club meets at 1 p.m., while the Barber Coin Collectors Society gathers at 3 p.m.
C4 will also host Jim Glickman’s public presentation, Collecting American Colonials 101, at 2 p.m. A separate C4 study group, led by Jim Rosen and Mark Vitunic, meets at 3 p.m.
On Saturday, November 14, C4 conducts its annual business meeting at 9:30 a.m., with all welcome. At 10:30 a.m., Leo Shane presents *Patriotism in Print*.
Together, these events offer practical knowledge for collectors at every experience level.

Three Days to Explore the Coin Market
For veteran collectors, Baltimore offers an opportunity to study important coins, compare dealer inventories, and evaluate the market before the year’s end.
For families and beginning collectors, the Expo offers something equally important: direct access to the people, objects, and stories that make numismatics compelling.
And for anyone who has never attended a major coin convention, the November show offers an inviting introduction.
Hundreds of dealers, exceptional auction rarities, educational opportunities, and three days of free public admission make the 2026 Whitman Baltimore Expo an event worth considering.
